Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.
We currently have an opportunity for a Product Manager in Canberra to work on Joint projects.
What You'll Do
This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:
* Provide operational, financial, and analytical support to the Integrated Product Manager and Deputy IPM, including assistance with sustainment budget management and product‐management decision development.
* Support sustainment activities for DHFCS, overseeing ad‐hoc and recurring services, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring capability is maintained throughout transition to EDHFCS.
* Assist in developing and implementing product‐management options, balancing cost, risk, opportunity, and asset performance to optimise Defence asset utilisation.
* Build and maintain strong contractor and stakeholder relationships, ensuring effective communication on schedules, risks, costs, changes, and acquisition‐related activities with JP9101.
* Undertake directed tasks and site support, including travel to DHFCS locations, contributing to acquisition program activities, and completing additional duties as required by the IPM or Deputy IPM.
What You'll Bring
* Defence‐focused project, logistics or engineering background, supported by tertiary qualifications in project management or a related discipline.
* Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement capability, with experience guiding teams, collaborating across Defence/CASG, and maintaining effective internal and external relationships.
* Experience delivering Defence capability projects, including ASDEFCON familiarity, One Defence Capability System knowledge, and understanding of technical, logistical and operational requirements.
* Proven ability to manage cross‐functional teams and complex programs, including exposure to FMS arrangements and diverse technical specialisations.
* Commitment to ethical, transparent and outcomes‐focused behaviour, acting in accordance with Defence and CASG policies, ensuring stewardship of resources, and promoting clarity, collaboration and best‐practice decision‐making.
Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimumNegative Vetting 1or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance withInternational Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
