Situated within the Wollotuka Institute, the position focuses on culturally responsive teaching, research leadership, and meaningful engagement in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education. This is an Indigenous Identified role that contributes directly to strengthening Indigenous higher education and teacher education across undergraduate and postgraduate programs. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Design, coordinate, and deliver culturally responsive curriculum in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education – Teach and support students across undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs – Produce high-quality research outputs in Indigenous Education – Contribute to national disciplinary leadership in Indigenous Education – Support and supervise honours, masters, and Higher Degree by Research students – Provide academic leadership that shapes the direction of teaching and research within the Wollotuka Institute – Contribute to internal academic duties and external engagement activities – Develop and participate in international research collaborations REQUIREMENTS – Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity, with Confirmation of Aboriginality provided in line with University procedure – Completed PhD qualification in a relevant field – Demonstrated record of publication or non-traditional research outputs in high-quality outlets – Demonstrated recent capacity for success in independent research funding – Skills and experience in supervision of honours and masters research projects, and primary supervision of Higher Degree by Research students – Demonstrated recent ability to achieve teaching quality outcomes, informed by internal and external feedback – Demonstrated recent leadership in learning and teaching activities – Demonstrated outstanding performance in higher-level internal duties and contributions to external activities WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS This role plays a critical part in advancing Indigenous Education within higher education by embedding culturally grounded, community-informed teaching and research practices. Through leadership in curriculum design, research, and supervision, the Senior Lecturer supports the development of future educators who can contribute to cultural and social change. The position also strengthens the Wollotuka Institute's role as a leader in Indigenous Higher Education at a national and international level.
