The Opportunity:
This cadet role is your entry point. Forget coffee runs—you'll be working across both the office and major construction sites, gaining a 360-degree view of the project lifecycle: from how initial plans are assessed, to seeing how smart design translates into compliant, buildable reality on the ground.
What Your Day-to-Day Looks Like:
* Working shoulder-to-shoulder with senior accredited professionals on certification tasks.
* Learning to master the National Construction Code (NCC)—this is the language of compliance you'll become fluent in.
* Conducting reviews of complex documentation and attending sites to observe and verify non-compliance points.
* Acting as the technical link, liaising with every consultant—from the Structural Engineer to the Project Architect.
* Putting in the foundational work that leads directly to your professional accreditation.
Are You the Right Fit?
We're looking for someone who doesn't just tolerate code—they are curious about how buildings go together. You might be currently working but feel ready for a career pivot that rewards analytical thinking and technical precision.
You'll Need:
* A degree or background in Construction Management, Architecture, Contract Administration, or equivalent technical experience.
* Site Experience. You know the difference between a detail on paper and a detail on-site.
* Crucial Advantage: Demonstrable exposure to Building Surveying. This could be from a previous cadetship, having undertaken specialist units/majors in your degree, or current work in a related compliance/certification capacity.
* Sharp communication skills; the confidence to speak clearly and professionally to an architect one minute, and a site manager the next.
* That essential analytical brain, great attention to detail, and a hunger to master technical frameworks.
* A valid driver's licence for site visits across Sydney.
