Working within a respected specialist team, this role offers exposure to a wide-ranging mix of litigation, advisory and transactional matters across planning law, project approvals, property development, heritage, compulsory acquisition and environmental matters including contaminated land, pollution and licensing.

The role:
Your day will involve working across a broad range of planning, environment and climate change matters, including;
* advising on planning law and project approvals;
* acting in litigation across Class 1, 3, 4 and 5 matters;
* advising on property development, heritage and compulsory acquisition issues;
* working on environmental matters including contaminated land, pollution and licensing;
* supporting transactional and advisory work connected to major projects;
* collaborating with other practice groups and senior lawyers across the firm.
Who you'll be working with:
You’ll join a growing Sydney team within a highly regarded national firm. The team offers a strong blend of technical depth, commerciality and collaboration, and is known for handling a mix of advisory, transactional and contentious matters in the planning and environment space. This is a team where mentoring is genuine, senior lawyers are approachable and development is taken seriously.
About you:
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ PAE in environment, planning and climate change within a reputable law firm; strong technical skills across planning and environmental law; a genuine interest in both litigious and non-contentious work; the ability to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team; strong communication and relationship-building skills; a proactive, organised and enthusiastic approach; and excellent attention to detail.
This role will suit a lawyer looking to deepen their expertise in a specialist practice while also gaining broader strategic involvement in a growing team within a major firm platform.
What you can expect:
In return, you can expect high quality and varied work across litigation, advisory and transactional matters; strong mentoring from recognised practitioners; a collaborative and transparent team culture; flexible working arrangements; genuine scope for progression; and access to a broad range of firm benefits including parental leave, study assistance, wellbeing initiatives, daily breakfast and social activities.
