Role Details
We are seeking a technically proficient and detail-oriented Senior IT Security and Cloud Officer to join our Group Information Technology team based in Adelaide. This role plays a critical part in delivering Perilya's digital transformation and cloud migration program, with responsibility for implementing, securing, and maintaining cloud and hybrid infrastructure across the Group.
Working across our global operations, the successful candidate will ensure secure deployment of cloud services, enhance existing cyber security controls, and contribute to maintaining compliance with Australian privacy and cyber security legislation. The role is hands-on and technically focused, reporting to the Group Information Technology Manager and supporting broader Group-wide risk, audit, and operational functions.
What You'll Be Doing
Deploy and maintain secure Azure and hybrid environments in line with Group architecture and governance frameworks.
Implement cloud-native security controls, identity management, encryption, and access policies across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments.
Ensure all configurations align with ACSC Essential Eight and Perilya's internal cyber risk standards.
Operate and monitor security platforms including SIEM, EDR, WAF, firewalls, and identity systems.
Investigate and respond to security events in accordance with the Group Incident Response Plan.
Assist with patching, remediation, and threat mitigation activities across IT environments.
Contribute hands-on to the execution of Perilya's cloud migration program, including application rehosting and infrastructure integration.
Ensure secure configuration, access controls, and logging are in place for all migrated systems.
Identify risks and recommend mitigations during the migration lifecycle.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation including Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), ISO 27001, and NIST CSF.
Maintain detailed technical documentation and support internal/external audit and risk review processes.
Assist in conducting vulnerability assessments and developing risk treatment plans.
Provide technical input to Group stakeholders across Finance, Legal, Procurement, and Operations on IT security risks, system access, and secure design principles.
Support documentation for Board reporting, Audit & Risk Committee reviews, and third-party integrations.
Assist in internal awareness and security training initiatives.
What You Will Bring
Minimum 8+ years' experience in IT, with at least 3–5 years focused on cyber security and cloud security in complex enterprise environments
Demonstrated experience supporting end-to-end cloud migrations, particularly within Microsoft Azure
Strong technical knowledge of Azure security architecture, Windows environments, networks, and virtualisation
Experience operating SIEM, WAF, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and vulnerability management tools
Familiarity with security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST CSF, ISO 27001)
Working knowledge of DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipeline integration
Excellent analytical and diagnostic skills with a strong attention to detail
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline
Proficiency in scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python) to automate security tasks
Experience in the mining, resources, or industrial sectors
Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, AZ-500, CCSP, or OSCP
