Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Network Deployment Engineer as part of our Infrastructure Operations team. As cloud regions continue to expand, this role will build and scale next-generation network systems, ensuring stability and sustainability. You will work in a dynamic environment to drive the stability of our next-generation networks, automate deployment processes, and support capacity management across multiple data centre locations. The position involves collaborating with internal customers, external vendors, and Technical Program Managers to facilitate smooth project execution.
Key job responsibilities
Clearly communicate project status and blockers to leadership and project management.
Perform device build and cabling validation activities.
Manage cabling vendor activities and perform quality assurance activities.
Support Network Engineering deployment activities during scheduled change management windows.
Participate in the migration (including off-business hours), basic configuration, and rollout of new or upgraded hardware.
Complete customer requests via the trouble ticketing system.
Collaborate with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
Troubleshoot networking, routing, and inter-connectivity issues, including device configuration and low-level application interaction.
Deliver simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions and processes.
Manage work and priorities through the ticketing system and workflow.
Travel within the geographical work area is required; up to 40% of travel may occur outside the traditional work area and may include international travel.

A day in the life
A Network Deployment Engineer attends meetings, creates and executes change management activities in the data centre, deploys hardware, connects cabling, troubleshoots links, updates tickets, works with peers across AWS, and continually seeks better ways to serve customers.

Basic Qualifications
Experience in a data centre or other critical environment.
Experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
3+ years of professional or military experience, or 4+ years of relevant technical position experience.
Experience dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering measurable results in an agile environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of data centre infrastructure design, operations, or delivery.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems Management, Information Security, or related fields.
Knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment such as VFL, power meter, and OTDR.
Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals such as BGP, OSPF, and other R&S technologies.
