The Medico-Legal Officer is responsible for safeguarding patient and carer privacy by releasing information in accordance with the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (HRIPA). The primary role involves processing requests for information from patients, third parties, and hospital executives for the provision of copies of medical records, medical reports, statements of attendance, deceased paperwork processing, summaries of injury, and expert witness statements as permitted and/or directed under current legislation and NSW Health Policies and Directives.
