About the role
Join a progressive, multidisciplinary Infant and Child Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (ICMHWS) within MHDAS at Barwon Health — one of Victoria’s largest regional health services.
* ICMHWS delivers high-quality, evidence-based assessment and treatment to:
* Infants and children aged 0–11 years
* Families experiencing emotional and behavioural concerns
* Women with serious mental illness in the perinatal period
The service operates across community, school and clinical settings and is embedded within the broader MHDAS stepped-care continuum — ensuring integrated pathways from intake through to discharge, inpatient liaison, and specialist consultation.
This senior role provides:
* High-level direct clinical care
* Clinical supervision and mentoring of junior staff and students
* Leadership across program areas including:
* Duty/crisis and generalist child psychiatric assessment
* Children and Schools Early Action (CASEA) or school-based programs
* Community development and inter-agency liaison
* Perinatal mental health

Key responsibilities
* Deliver Specialist Assessment & Intervention
* Provide family-inclusive, developmentally informed psychiatric and mental health assessments for infants, children and women in the perinatal period. Undertake risk assessments and deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions (individual, family and group).
* Lead Clinical Programs & School Partnerships
* Deliver school-based interventions and lead CASEA or other designated programs. Build collaborative relationships with schools, family services and community agencies across the Barwon region.
* Offer structured supervision, secondary consultation and education to clinicians, students and external agencies. Contribute to workforce capability development and student placements.
* Ensure compliance with professional standards, CCS Direct Framework and NOCC protocols. Participate in program design, quality improvement initiatives and clinical service planning.
What we’re looking for
We are seeking an experienced, emotionally capable Senior Clinician who brings:
* Specialist expertise in infant and child mental health, including comprehensive assessment and evidence-based treatment for children aged 0–11 years and their families.
* Demonstrated capability in perinatal and family-focused practice, with strong risk assessment skills within a developmental and systems framework (perinatal experience desirable).
* Experience delivering community and/or school-based interventions, alongside the ability to provide clinical supervision, secondary consultation and workforce capability development.
