The role
Position Overview
Quantity Surveyor – Osborne Naval Shipyard Offices, South Australia. Flexible work arrangements such as 9‐day fortnight and/or hybrid working are available.
Responsibilities
- Assess supplier claims, calculate quantities of labour, materials and durations, and support assessment of non‐conformance.
- Support initial tendering, contract management and supplier disputes working with contract managers to deliver to cost, schedule, quality and safety requirements, maximising value and minimising risk.
- Manage commercial aspects of sub‐contract accounts from procurement to interim and final account agreement in accordance with relevant contract terms and pricing options or best practice.
- Establish and agree contractual programme, forecasting and reporting project commercial performance.
- Assess contractor claims and payment valuations ensuring accurate assessment, certification, and timely payment with appropriate contractual notices and certificates.
- Assist in regular progress and contract performance meetings to agree contractual changes while ensuring compliance with SHE, quality, risks and budget delivery and savings for assigned contracts.
- Work with stakeholders to resolve issues escalated through subcontractors, internal stakeholders or the Line of Business Production Subcontracts Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor.
- Monitor accurate contractor progress on site, carry out quantity measurements, and report adjustments for over‐measurement or cost.
Qualifications
- Australian Citizen, eligible to obtain and maintain a defence security clearance.
- Experience in quantity surveying within a relevant sector, including delivery of services or construction contracts.
- Strong understanding of optimal contracting and pricing routes, contracts management and valuation.
- Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or a commercial discipline (desirable).
- Proven ability in negotiations, production sub‐contract management, claims and disputes.
- Excellent communication and time‐management skills.
- Sound understanding of standard Method of Measurement.
Clearance Requirements
A Defence security clearance is required for this role; applicants must be Australian citizens and either possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance.
