A specialist Australian avionics business working exclusively in general aviation is looking to add a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Avionics) to its engineering team to carry out modification, installation, and maintenance work across general aviation aircraft.
In this role, you will work across the full scope of avionics: wiring, installing, modifying, and maintaining avionic systems on general aviation aircraft, and certifying that work within the scope of your CASA Part 66 B2 licence. The position sits firmly in the general aviation space rather than military or heavy jet airline environments, so the work is varied, practical, and centred on doing precise, high-quality work on a broad mix of aircraft.
This is a full-time, on-site position.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out installation, modification, and maintenance of avionic systems on general aviation aircraft, including wiring, instrumentation, communication, and navigation systems.
* Certify maintenance and modification work within the scope of a CASA Part 66 B2 (Avionics) licence.
* Diagnose and rectify faults across avionic and electrical systems, returning aircraft to service in line with CASA airworthiness requirements.
* Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and modification/approval data to plan and complete avionics installations and upgrades.
* Deliver avionics retrofits and upgrades, ensuring compliance with airworthiness directives and applicable standards.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records, logbook entries, and documentation to regulatory standards.
* Work closely with the wider engineering team on troubleshooting, modification work, and quality of workmanship.
* Uphold a strong safety and airworthiness culture across all work performed.
Requirements
* Current CASA Part 66 B2 (Avionics) Aircraft Maintenance Engineer licence.
* Extensive hands on avionics experience within general aviation, as distinct from military, airline, or heavy jet environments.
* Demonstrated experience wiring, modifying, installing, and maintaining general aviation avionic systems.
* Strong ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and modification data.
* Sound working knowledge of CASA airworthiness and certification requirements.
* High standard of workmanship, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work autonomously.
Desirable but not essential
* Experience with avionics modifications and EFIS or glass cockpit retrofits.
* Familiarity with current generation general aviation avionics suites.
* Exposure to a broad range of general aviation aircraft types, including piston and turboprop.
* Additional ratings or type familiarity relevant to general aviation.
