Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (new employee will need to live within driving distance of the office).
Roles And ResponsibilitiesThe position includes working individually within a team to complete complex and technically challenging aspects of electrical utility substation design and understanding and adhering to client standards.Perform the detailed P&C; design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations.
Typical designs include but are not limited to:One-line diagramsP&C; equipment selectionProtection and control schematicsWiring diagramsSCADACommunicationsMaterial listsConduit and cable sizing/routingAC and DC systems calculations and sizingEngineering Documentation such as Requests for Information (RFIs), Scope Documents, Equipment Specifications, Protection and Control Descriptions, and Construction SpecificationsWork with CAD designers/drafters to develop drawing packagesCoordinate designs with other disciplines such as Substation Physical, Structural, and CivilParticipate in quality assurance and quality control programsContribute to engineering proposal developmentContribute to engineering project scheduling and budget managementRequired Education/ExperienceBSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) from an accredited university preferably with a power optionUnderstanding of substation equipment and its functionGood command of the Microsoft Office suite, with an emphasis on Outlook, Excel and WordThe candidate must have solid command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnelCandidate must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorshipDesired Education/ExperienceThree (3) or more years' experience in utility substation design is preferredAbility to produce applicable drawings from rough sketches, notes, client examples, vendor drawings, and suchEngineer Intern (EI) certificate or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examPOWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is a global consulting environmental and engineering firm and one of the top design firms in the energy sector.
