A successful construction company with a strong reputation for providing professional service and quality work, our client is now seeking an experienced Estimator to join their growing business in their Melbourne office.
With a project portfolio that includes both small and large scale fitout ($100k to $15m+) for their clients as well as heavy refurb and new builds ($5m to $15m+) you will be responsible for delivering accurate and on time building estimation services to ensure tenders are competitive, low risk propositions, as well as supporting the project team to ensure variations are priced accurately.
You will be actively involved with new build and fitout / refurbishment projects across a range of sectors which include Commercial, Industrial, Retail, Education and Hospitality to name a few. You will have a proven history in the local market.
Must be an autonomous Estimator with the ability to manage the whole process from client brief to tender submission and have the ability to attend tender interviews if required. Must also have an in-depth understanding of construction methodology, trade scopes and estimating principles coupled with strong communication, interpersonal and rapport building skills.
Years of Experience:
5 -10 years +
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
* Preparation and submission of tenders
* Evaluate / review tender and estimating process for cost effectiveness
* Tender negotiations
* Attending tendering interviews
* Coordinate tender handover to project team
* Prepare budgets based on tender submission
* Assess and price contract variation orders
* Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants
Qualifications and Requirements:
* Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction, Engineering or similar
* Minimum 5 to 10yrs years post graduate experience in estimating
* Proven ability to tender on multiple projects simultaneously
* Able to read and understand plans
* Well-developed interpersonal skills with a strong client and subcontractor focus
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Able to work within a team as well as autonomously
* Excellent organisation and time management skills
* Experience with Jobpac, Cubit and Buildsoft software's would be advantageous
* Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Project
