The Role

The Electromagnetic Warfare Intelligence Maritime Systems Program Office (EWIS-Maritime SPO) is seeking a highly professional, motivated APS 6 Security Advisor to join the team based in Russell, ACT or Orchid Hills, NSW. As an APS 6 Security Advisor you will engage with stakeholders, investigate, report, develop, evaluate, advise and implement policies, processes, procedures, practice and manage resources specific to assurance and data specifications to support Defence capability. You will be an integral part of a team that collaborates to ensure the complex projects adhere to compliance and legislative frameworks through effective decision making and excellent time management.

The role also supports the management of highly classified SPO assets and conducts audits and assurance activities to ensure all personnel handling classified assets and materials maintain security posterity.

Your duties include:

* Independently able to Identify, research and analyse complex protective security issues, and provide recommendations and advice;
* Collating, researching and analysing complex Defence security issues to produce high-quality reports, submissions, briefings and discussion papers;
* Development, implementation and administration of governance documentation suites and associated auditable artefacts;
* Management of Security Incidents;
* Presenting security briefings and shaping security cultures, including coordinating and conducting security training EWIS-Maritime SPO;
* Coordinate and respond to Branch security enquiries and tasking’s;
* Collate research and analyse protective security issues to produce high-quality reports, submissions, briefings and discussion papers.

The right person for this role will show the flexibility to respond to the changing context and shifting priorities of the Defence environment to achieve business outcomes and is accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.

About our Team

EWIS-Maritime SPO currently manages a number of electronic warfare systems fitted to both the surface and sub-surface fleet, such as the Nulka Decoy product and various Sensors and Electronic Attack products in both acquisition and sustainment phases. The SPO delivers these capabilities to both the Australian Defence Force and United States Navy. EWIS-Maritime SPO is widely dispersed across Australia with this position based at Russell, ACT. The successful applicant will participate in an integrated team, including APS, military and contractor staff, to ensure the supported Electronic Warfare capabilities are delivered to the ADF and supported in accordance with operational and compliance requirements and service agreements.

Our Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate an ability to operate independently and within a team and engage effectively with stakeholders to achieve overarching strategic outcomes for the Department of Defence. Our ideal candidate is an innovative and experienced security professional, who has an in-depth knowledge of Government Security requirements and frameworks.

Our ideal candidate will have:

* Experience working in Security or similar roles to be able to provide detailed security, technical, professional advice to support the achievement of EWIS Maritime outcomes;
* Have knowledge of and ability to provide advice on security incidents that is in accordance with the Defence Security Policy Framework (DSPF);
* Experience and understanding of Security Governance frameworks, policy and procedures to provide advice and guidance to stakeholders;
* Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure;
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders;
* Proactive nature and ability to anticipate issues in the capability or with stakeholders;
* An ability to work in small or large teams or autonomously as required, setting work priorities and managing workflows and ensuring your team remains informed.
Eligibility

Security Clearance:

Positive Vetting: Prior to commencement, successful applicants will be required to undergo a psychological assessment and an extensive security clearance process. As a Positive Vetting clearance is required, applicants must be Australian Citizens; be able to account for their personal background for their whole life; and be able to demonstrate suitability to work in a high security intelligence environment.
