The Opportunity
To support our continued growth and technical capability, PROK is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer - Applications to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis in Bayswater, WA.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the Applications Engineering and Technical Administration function. You will lead the delivery of compliant, fit-for-purpose engineering solutions across PROK’s conveyor pulley, idler, and winch product range, while strengthening engineering governance, systems integrity, and customer engagement.
This role blends technical authority, people leadership, customer interaction, and systems ownership. You will act as a key technical point of reference within the business, ensuring designs meet relevant codes and safety-in-design requirements, while maintaining the integrity of product master data and estimating tools within our ERP systems.
Working cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, Procurement, Estimating, and Sales teams, you will help drive consistency, efficiency, and innovation across both products and processes.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Leadership
Lead the delivery of compliant, high-quality engineering designs across PROK’s core conveyor product range.Ensure all designs meet relevant Australian and international codes, standards, and safety-in-design engineering calculations, FEA analysis, and third-party verification as required.Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and performance guidance to engineers and technical team members.Support customers with value-add engineering services, including design reviews and practical, fit-for-purpose solutions.Contribute to product standardisation initiatives and collaborate with group stakeholders on product roadmap development.Develop and maintain controlled technical documentation including specifications, SOPs, commissioning documentation, and O&M manuals.
Product Data & Systems Governance
Oversee the accuracy, integrity, and structure of product master data and Bills of Materials within ERP systems.Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Procurement to ensure technical specifications are accurately captured and maintained.Support and enhance estimating tools to improve proposal accuracy, efficiency, and consistency.Identify and implement process improvements to enhance engineering effectiveness, data accuracy, and workflow velocity.Support ongoing optimisation within Microsoft Dynamics 365 and related systems.
Customer & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Engage directly with customers to understand operational requirements and identify improvement opportunities.Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure engineering solutions are delivered on time, within scope, and to quality a strong safety culture within the engineering team and contribute to broader organisational safety objectives.
About You
You are a technically credible and commercially aware engineering professional who thrives in complex industrial environments. You combine hands-on engineering capability with structured systems thinking and strong leadership skills.
You Will Bring
Engineering degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.Experience within mining, manufacturing, or heavy industry sectors.Strong knowledge of conveyor systems and mechanical components.Proven experience delivering compliant engineering designs in industrial environments.Experience with CAD/PDM systems and ERP platforms (Pronto and/or Microsoft Dynamics 365 highly regarded).Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong data management capability.Experience with SQL or database queries advantageous.Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the business and with customers.Most importantly, you value accuracy, safety, and continuous improvement, while enjoying practical problem-solving and developing those around you.
