The Opportunity
A Local Government organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Local Laws Officer to provide short-term leadership and support to its Ranger and compliance team.
This role has been created to strengthen operational capability within the Local Laws team. The successful candidate will work closely with Rangers to provide mentoring and guidance while reviewing and improving policies, procedures, and compliance practices.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Local Laws or Compliance professional who enjoys sharing knowledge, developing team capability, and improving operational systems within a Local Government environment.

About the Role
You will support the Local Laws and Ranger team by strengthening operational capability and ensuring compliance practices are consistent and effective.
Key responsibilities include:
• Mentoring and training Local Laws Officers and Rangers
• Reviewing and improving Local Laws policies and operational procedures
• Providing guidance on regulatory compliance and enforcement activities
• Supporting investigations and enforcement of Local Laws and relevant legislation
• Assisting the team with complex compliance matters
• Promoting consistent enforcement and community engagement practices
• Contributing to improved systems, processes and reporting
About You
You are an experienced compliance or Local Laws professional with strong leadership capability and a practical understanding of regulatory enforcement.
You will bring:
• Experience working as a Local Laws Officer, Ranger, or Compliance Officer
• Strong knowledge of Local Government legislation and regulatory enforcement
• Ability to mentor, train and support operational teams
• Experience reviewing policies, procedures and operational processes
• Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills
• Ability to work independently and provide practical solutions
• Current Driver’s Licence
