Our Queensland Government client is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Finance Assets Lead to join Financial Control Services team.
You will play a critical role in managing the capital works in progress (CWIP), providing expert guidance to ensure projects are properly defined, reviewed and validated for timely capitalisation.
Key Accountabilities
* Provide leadership, guidance and expert technical advice in relation to capital expenditure commissioning;
* Review construction work in progress (CWIP) and make recommendations to capitalise or expense recorded transactions for both completed projects and in-flight projects in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and Qld Treasury's Non-Current Asset Policies for the Queensland Public Sector;
* Actively consult with Project Managers and other key stakeholders to review and ensure all CWIP is being reconciled and capitalised in a timely manner;
* Undertake capture and analysis of business requirements across data, process, system and resourcing to identify priorities and issues for CWIP improvement and inform design, development and implementation;
* Lead and support stakeholder awareness, engagement and adoption of improved processes and practices;
* Establish, reconcile and provide monthly reporting to the Board and Executive regarding CWIP;
* Lead and develop specialist advice, recommendations and reports to MNH Executive on asset governance issues with respect to asset commissioning;
* Manage resources to achieve expected outcomes.
Mandatory Qualifications/Professional Registration/other Requirements
Whilst not mandatory, a relevant qualification or membership with CPA Australia or the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand will be well regarded. The ideal candidate will have tertiary level qualifications in a related discipline (e.g. asset management; asset accounting)
