**ABOUT US**:
The **Infant, Child & Youth Area Mental Health & Wellbeing Service (ICYAMHWS)** at Alfred Health is a community-based service that provides comprehensive assessment, treatment and case management to infants, children, adolescents and young people up to the age of 25 years of age presenting with behavioural, emotional, psychiatric or developmental difficulties.

**headspace **Early Psychosis (**hEP**), established in 2011, is an accessible youth and family friendly mental health service for young people (12-25) struggling with hearing voices and unusual beliefs. It builds on individual strengths and resilience, uses the wisdom of lived experience and fosters hope, potential and recovery.

**Family Peer Support**

The Family Peer Support Work (FPSW) program works in conjunction with our clinical teams to provide support to family members or other carers in the network of the young person. Family members and friends often provide the main safety net and support system for a young person. Evidence shows that when family and friends are involved with services, outcomes for young people improve.

The aim of Family Peer Support is to:

- minimise the impact of complex mental health on family and significant others of young people within the service; and
- support the engagement of families and significant others with the service in order to enhance the process of recovery for young people experiencing complex mental health.

**WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING**:
In this role, you will provide education and information on family/carer experiences, needs and ideas for service improvement. You will work alongside the Manager of the Youth program to support other staff, peer support workers, community groups and other providers to partner with young people and families to deliver optimum services.

You will be involved in service planning, delivery and evaluation of services in relation to family and carer perspective, and facilitate family involvement at all levels within the service. You will play an integral role with decision making and guidance on planning and implementation of services.

**WHAT YOU HAVE**:

- Lived experience as a family member/carer of a person with an emotional/behavioural difficulties or mental illness and preferably with use of child & youth mental health services
- Experience in LLE Workforce leadership or Supervisory role or demonstrated experience (minimum 3 years) in working from LLE perspective I.e. carer consultant, carer peer support role within a mental health service or lived experience role within NGO.

Membership with Tandem and demonstrated involvement in the family/carer space.

Membership with Carer Lived Experience Workforce Victoria (CLEW)
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as a health-related discipline, education, community development or welfare, or completion of a lived experience training which could include Intentional Peer Support or Certificate 4 in Mental Health Peer Work is highly desirable
- Appropriate work visa and current Victorian Driver's License
- Current Working with Children Check or willing to obtain one, and be willing to undergo a Background Check
