As a Principal Geologist, you will provide technical and operational direction to internal and external stakeholders, while working on complex mining and geological projects. **Mining**

**What you'll do**:
- Provide technical advice and managerial input on complex mining and geological issues to clients and internal staff including but not limited to geological data analysis, geological modelling, resource estimation, technical reviews, exploration services, and technical due diligence;
- Actively undertake business development and client development activities to ensure continuity of work;
- Provide leadership and guidance to project teams working across a range of technical disciplines and commodities;
- Prepare tenders, proposals and reports for both internal and external clients;
- Supervise, review/evaluate activities undertaken by junior staff;
- Liaise with specialists from other disciplines and offices within WSP;
- Provide safety leadership in identifying and alleviating/eliminating high priority safety hazards;
- Mentor and develop staff in the interests of their long-term career objectives and operational needs;
- Conduct all work to satisfy all company, client and government conditions, policies, procedures, regulations and standards
**About you**:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Geology or related discipline;
- Demonstrated experience in one of the industry accepted mine planning and geology software packages e.g. Vulcan, Leapfrog, Surpac or Datamine highly desirable;
- Experience within a mining environment will be highly regarded;
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a team of professionals;
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail;
- An advanced level of computer literacy and the ability to analyse data;
- Extensive relevant experience, ideally within a consultancy;
- Proven analytical and problem-solving ability;
- Extensive project management skills and the ability to build relationships with both internal and external clients;
- Excellent communication skills, strong report writing skills and problem-solving ability.
