We are seeking an experienced APS6 Financial Program Officer to provide high-quality financial and strategic support across multiple programs. This role plays a key part in monitoring financial performance, resolving complex financial matters, and strengthening financial capability across the branch through improved systems, processes and advice. This will be a 12month contract role based in Canberra.
You will work closely with program areas, senior leaders and external stakeholders to support sound decision-making, ensure compliance with the Commonwealth financial framework, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Monitor and provide advice on financial matters, including budgets, forecasts and financial performance.
* Investigate and resolve complex financial issues to support program delivery and informed decision-making.
* Drive continuous improvement by uplifting financial capability and literacy across program areas through improved processes and systems.
* Prepare high-quality briefing materials, submissions, reports and correspondence for senior leadership and the Executive.
* Ensure compliance with project governance, financial delegations, legislation, policies and regulatory requirements.
* Provide strategic financial and operational advice to internal and external stakeholders.
* Contribute flexibly to section and branch priorities, including undertaking additional tasks as required to support business objectives.

* Competency in office systems and tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint and records management systems.
Desirable Experience
* Experience supporting projects or programs, either within a Project Management Office (PMO) or a project support role.
* Understanding of ICT operations and development within a medium to large organisation, including the complexities of managing people, budgets and deliverables.
