The Department of Health seeks an Assistant Environmental Engineer to join their Southeast Virginia team.
* Conducting inspections and sanitary surveys of waterworks to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
* Interpreting federal regulations applicable to waterworks owners and operators.
* Providing guidance and assistance to help waterworks return to compliance in cases of non-compliance.
* Performing evaluations of engineering documents associated with the design and construction of new or expanded waterworks.
* Advanced knowledge in biology, microbiology, chemistry, engineering principles, and practices, sanitary engineering, and epidemiology.
* Effective communication skills, including addressing the public.
* Demonstrated ability to write and present technical reports.
