Role Overview
12-month contract with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.
We're seeking a detail-oriented Projects Manager with strong experience in preparing comprehensive and commercially savvy quotations and tenders. As a key team member, you will:
* Lead end-to-end quoting processes for civil and underground projects across mining, utilities, industrial and commercial sectors.
* Develop accurate, competitive, and profitable bids including cost breakdowns (labour, materials, plant, subcontractors).
* Interpret scope documents, site specifications, drawings, and design data to translate into precise estimates.
* Collaborate with operations, safety, plant, and procurement teams to align quoting assumptions and constraints.
* Manage bid timelines, compliance registers, margin analysis, risk assessments, and deliver submissions by tender deadlines.
* Maintain and build strong client relationships through value and trust during pre-contract discussions.
Candidate Requirements
* Proven experience (5+ years) in estimating or project management for civil and/or underground infrastructure projects.
* Expertise with Australian quoting best practices (ABN, GST inclusions, itemised costing, expiry dates, terms/conditions.
* Strong financial understanding—ability to calculate margins while staying competitive in tendering.
* Knowledge of civil plant and labour rates, subcontractor management, and overhead allocation.
* Excellent interpretation of plans, scopes, and site conditions.
* Solid organisational skills: managing multiple bids, version control, and submission deadlines.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to professional quoting standards.
* Excellent communication skills to liaise with internal teams and clients.
* Qualifications in engineering, project management, construction management, or commercial construction estimating are an advantage.
* Familiarity with BYDA locating, asbestos handling, NDD, earthworks and underground utilities is highly desirable (preferred) .
