About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer at DroneShield, you will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining our RFAI Detection Capability, core technology that powers our world-leading anti-drone solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional experts in ML/AI, Data Science, RF, and Infrastructure to innovate, integrate cutting-edge algorithmic models, and deliver meaningful commercial value.

Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations

• Design and develop scalable software systems using industry best practices.
• Advance the development of software architecture design processes within the team.
• Collaborate with various engineering teams to integrate complex algorithms into production software for evaluation and tuning.
• Design and implement software automation for algorithm evaluation pipelines.
• Implement automated testing procedures to ensure software quality and reliability.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Ensure software is designed for reliability and performance on resource-constrained deployment targets.
• Develop and maintain simulation software used to assist algorithm development.
• Work in a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with engineers from non-software / data science backgrounds.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

• Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Proficiency in Python is required, and experience with C++ is favourable.
• Ability to turn complex algorithms and mathematical models into high-performance software, operating on sensor data.
• Experience with Python data manipulation libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, and Scipy is highly favourable.
• DevOps experience, including CI/CD, automated testing, and system monitoring.
• Experience with software development tools including Git, Jira, Confluence, GitLab CI/CD, Docker, Poetry, Pyenv.
• Familiarity with developing in Linux environments (embedded Linux would be advantageous).
• Working knowledge of modern architectural patterns and software design patterns.

Desirable Experience

• Concurrent computing and code optimisation.
• Docker.
• ML, RF, FPGA, and DSP technologies.
