Domestic Services Assistant (NT-Top End) {Darwin; Casuarina; Palmerston; Coolalinga; Howard Springs; Humpty Doo; Berry Springs; Adelaide River}
Responsibilities
* Provides support with household tasks to promote independence and participation in community life for individuals in various settings, such as assisted living or community-based programs.
* Performs cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and assists with personal care, often requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Cleaning: vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, and changing bed linens.
* Laundry: washing, drying, folding, and ironing clothes.
* Meal Preparation: cooking and preparing meals based on dietary needs and preferences.
* Supporting Independence: encouraging participation in daily activities and assisting with tasks to promote self-sufficiency.
* Communication and Interpersonal Skills: effectively communicating with residents, families, and other staff, and maintaining confidentiality.
* Organisation and Prioritization: managing tasks, meeting deadlines, and working independently.
* Other Tasks: depending on the setting, tasks may include providing companionship and engaging in community activities.
Qualifications Key Selection Criteria
* Ability to read, write, speak and understand English as needed for the job.
* Demonstrated understanding of the needs of the older person in the Home Care Environment and the ways in which these needs can be met.
* Demonstrated ability to assist in the provision of holistic individual, client focused care using a systematic approach.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, significant others and other members of the Right at Home care team.
* Demonstrated ability to maintain and promote the safety of clients and self in the work environment including a knowledge of emergency procedures, Work Health and Safety and Infection Control.
* Demonstrated knowledge of the Legislation applicable to the role of a Domestic Services Assistant in the Home Care Environment.
