About the Role:
Community Support Centre Innisfail is seeking a new team member to fulfill the role of 'Be Ready' Disaster Connect Worker. This position is Fixed-Term Contract (16 months) Full-Time (38 hours per week; SCHADS Level 5.1 $51.00/hr).
The 'Be Ready' Disaster Connect Worker will work in partnership with Mamu RNTBC to review and implement Disaster Management governance and management systems that support the Cassowary Coast community to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disaster.
The 'Be Ready' Disaster Connect Worker will be responsible for updating the CSCI Business Continuity Plan, CSCI Disaster response Service Delivery model and integrate Person-Centred Emergency Preparedness planning (PCEPP) across all CSCI services.
The 'Be Ready' Disaster Connect Worker will partner with Mamu RNTBC to deliver community education workshops across Cassowary Coast Regional Council communities to increase uptake of PCEPP's and development of organisation business sustainability plans.
The 'Be Ready' Disaster Connect Worker will contribute to the operations of the Community Engagement and Response Team (CERT), strengthening community capacity to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disaster.
The 'Be Ready' Disaster Connect Worker will work from the Innisfail Neighbourhood Centre, with expectations of regular travel across the Cassowary Coast region, with occasional travel beyond the area to meet project and organisational goals. A work vehicle is provided for all work-related travel.
Who are we looking for?
Essential Requirements:
* Relevant qualifications in community services, social work, behavioural science, human services, or similar and/or significant experience in equivalent work.
* Demonstrated experience of project management within a human service organisation.
* Experience in consulting or building relationships with Traditional Owners and/or Cultural Liaison staff to respond to the structural barriers experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in accessing services.
* Demonstrated experience of facilitating community education workshops.
* Demonstrated computer literacy skills and ability to navigate on-line systems for data collection and reporting purposes.
* Current 'Working with Children' Suitability card or ability to acquire one.
* Possession of a driver's licence.

* Demonstrated experience of working with emergency/disaster service delivery models.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience of developing organisational policy.
* Demonstrated experience developing community education programmes.
* Knowledge of and ability to work collaboratively with other government and non-government service providers and systems.
* Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team environment across service areas as well as independently.
