Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer with a strong support focus to join our team.
This role involves managing and maintaining a hybrid environment (on-premises and cloud), ensuring stability, security, and performance across critical infrastructure components.
You will be responsible for BAU support, patching, minor upgrades, and incident resolution while collaborating with internal teams to deliver exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
Virtualization
Provide BAU support and maintenance for virtualised environments
Perform patching and minor upgrades
Maintain Windows servers and apply regular security updates
Maintain Linux systems and execute patching and updates
Veeam
Perform restores and test restores
Configure customer backup requirements
Execute minor upgrades and generate reports
Ticket Management & Documentation
Resolve incidents promptly
Fulfil service requests in line with SLAs
Create and maintain procedures and technical documentation as needed
Cloud Infrastructure
Implement and manage cloud infrastructure solutions across AWS, Azure, or GCP, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability.
Collaborate with development teams to integrate applications seamlessly with underlying cloud infrastructure.
Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and best practices, recommending improvements where applicable.
Monitoring & Performance
Monitor system performance proactively to identify potential issues before they impact operations.
Troubleshoot infrastructure problems and implement preventive measures to minimise downtime.
Participate in on-call rotations, providing timely incident response and resolution to maintain service continuity.
Automation & Configuration Management
Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef, reducing manual effort and improving consistency.
Develop and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and documentation to support automation workflows.
Continuously evaluate and adopt industry best practices for automation and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of networking, server administration, and virtualization technologies
Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
Understanding of IT security principles and best practices
Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Excellent communication and documentation abilities
Experience with containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus
Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (Splunk, ELK Stack) is preferred
Familiarity with automation and orchestration tools (Terraform, Jenkins) is desirable
Relevant certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, MCSE, RHCE) are advantageous
