About us:
Cairns Skills Centre is located at Cairns Hospital within the Nursing and Midwifery Education and Research Unit (NMERU). It is a CHHHS-wide resource dedicated to improving patient outcomes through the delivery of high-quality, scenario-based simulation education and clinical skills training for healthcare professionals and students across Far North Queensland. The Centre provides a safe, supportive learning environment that promotes hands-on experiential learning, with a focus on developing technical clinical skills, communication, situational awareness and effective teamwork. The Centre comprises three state-of-the-art simulation rooms, a range of additional education spaces (including a dedicated CPR training room), and access to contemporary training equipment such as high-fidelity manikins and part-task trainers. The Centre is supported by an extensive interdisciplinary faculty of skilled clinicians, educators and facilitators, and provides governance, support and guidance to six smaller 'Pocket Centres' across CHHHS.
We're committed to improving the health and wellbeing of people in Far North Queensland by providing high quality acute health care services.
