We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled leader who is committed to sustaining high-quality teaching, learning and assessment practices at St George Preca Primary School. A post-graduate qualification is desirable (or the willingness to undertake further study). Experienced Mathematics Teachers and Leaders are encouraged to apply.

This is an important academic and leadership role within the school. The full-time allocation enables the leader to facilitate teacher planning, support classroom pedagogy and lead Mathematics throughout the school. The contract is an ongoing teaching position with a (POL 3 for a 3-year contract).

Selection Criteria

* Commitment to Catholic identity and mission – Actively support and model the Catholic ethos and values within the school community
* Expertise in mathematics curriculum and pedagogy – Demonstrated ability to lead high-quality, evidence-based mathematics programs across all year levels
* Coaching and professional collaboration – Proven capacity to mentor teachers, facilitate team planning and strengthen shared instructional practice
* Data-informed practice – Ability to analyse and interpret student data to guide teaching, intervention and continuous improvement
* Interpersonal and leadership skills – Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, build relationships and contribute positively to a collaborative team culture

2025 Mathematics Leader Role Description

The Mathematics Leader is a vital instructional leader who drives the vision for exceptional teaching and learning at St George Preca Primary School. As a core member of the school leadership team, the successful candidate must possess deep curriculum expertise, proven skills in instructional coaching, and a strong personal commitment to Catholic education.

School Leadership:

● Actively support and model the Catholic mission and ethos of the school through faith-led leadership

● Represent and communicate the leadership team's direction clearly and respectfully to all staff

● Be proactive in student wellbeing and behaviour support, working collaboratively with staff and leadership

● Attend and productively contribute to leadership and staff meetings

● Support the Principal and Leadership Team's decisions, maintaining professionalism and unity when discussing them with colleagues

● Support and participate in whole-school events, initiatives, and the Catholic life of the school

● Model exemplary professional behaviour at all times, including professional communication and decision-making

● Demonstrate leadership behaviours that reflect integrity, professionalism, and collaboration, leading by example in appearance and collegial relationships

● Support colleagues in the implementation of school-wide expectations and behaviour management protocols

Curriculum Leadership:

● Collaborate with the Learning and Teaching Team to align pedagogy, assessment, and planning

● Lead the development, implementation, and rigorous review of a high-quality, evidence-informed mathematics curriculum across all year levels

● Ensure curriculum and instructional practices align with the MACS Vision for Instruction and St George Preca's school improvement priorities

● Embed strategies reflective of cognitive science and evidence-based practice to promote effective, lasting student learning in mathematics

● Facilitate year-level planning

● Track and monitor student growth in mathematics using data to guide teaching and intervention

● Act as an instructional coach, supporting staff in the use of high-impact teaching strategies, differentiation, and inclusive practices

● Collaborate effectively with the Mathematics Intervention Teacher to support student learning and targeted improvement in mathematics

● Oversee assessment and reporting in mathematics, ensuring consistency and accuracy across the school

● Facilitate professional learning in mathematics aligned with staff needs and system priorities

● Maintain and manage mathematics resources and budget
