Position Details
The Principal Assistant plays a key role in supporting the leadership and administration of the school, with a particular focus on student enrolments, family engagement, front of school operations and compliance. This position requires a high level of professionalism, confidentiality and alignment with the ethos and mission of Catholic education. The successful applicant will work closely with the Principal, leadership team and school community to ensure all processes and tasks are welcoming, efficient and reflective of the school's Catholic identity.
Star of the Sea Catholic Primary School is a triple‐stream co‐educational school of approximately 800 students from the Early Learning Centre (3 Year Old) to Year 6. The school operates a 3 Year‐Old Early Learning Centre (open 5 days per week from 6 am – 6 pm) and a 4 Year‐Old Kindergarten Program (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) with 2 additional days (Thursday and Friday) that are optional. Out of School Hours Care and Vacation Care are available at the school.
Star of the Sea offers a broad curriculum with specialist teachers across the learning areas of Science, ICT, PE, LOTE (Auslan) and Music. It has excellent IT infrastructure and resources as well as a variety of playground equipment, basketball courts and a large oval. Clear boundaries, routines and a consistent whole school approach allow students to flourish in a supportive learning environment.
As a West Australian Catholic school, we are part of the system of schools supported by Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA). At the local level, we are integral in the life of the local parish of 'Our Lady of Lourdes'.
Selection Criteria
* Commitment to Catholic Education Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the ethos and mission of Catholic Education and the ability to support and promote the school's Catholic identity.
* Administrative Experience and ICT Skills Proven administrative experience, preferably in a school or education setting, including managing student enrolments and complex processes. Advanced competence in Microsoft 365 applications (Word and Excel) is required. Experience using AOS, SEQTA and SIRS to support student records, reporting and school operations is highly desirable.
* Communication and Interpersonal Skills Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage warmly and professionally with families, staff, and external agencies.
* Organisation and Attention to Detail Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workload and maintain accurate records within set timelines.
* Confidentiality and Professionalism Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality and work with integrity when handling sensitive information.
* Teamwork and Initiative Ability to work collaboratively as part of a leadership and administrative team, as well as independently using initiative and sound judgement.
* Child Safety Commitment Commitment to child safety practices.
