About the role
The Department for Education is committed to ensuring the best educational outcomes for children and young people in South Australia. The department is implementing reforms to improve educational opportunities and to better meet community needs. The Senior Business Analyst contributes to the delivery of multiple strategic reform projects to improve business processes, streamline service delivery, and enhance user experience across corporate, school, and preschool sites statewide. The role supports the Applications Services team in analysing and challenging existing practices to ensure application systems align with ICT strategic priorities and industry best practice.
Within this context, the Senior Business Analyst undertakes detailed business and technical analysis of existing systems and user journeys, including processes, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement. This includes evaluating benefits, risks, and impacts of transitioning to new systems and service providers. The Analyst produces user journey maps, process documentation, technical specifications, and system requirements through structured discovery processes and collaborates with business and technical analysts, software developers, subject matter experts, vendors, and external service providers across several project streams to deliver a consolidated options analysis that supports informed decision-making aligned with project objectives and timelines.
Responsibilities
Undertake detailed business and technical analysis of existing systems and user journeys.
Evaluate benefits, risks, and impacts of transitioning to new systems and service providers.
Produce user journey maps, process documentation, technical specifications, and system requirements.
Collaborate with analysts, developers, subject matter experts, vendors, and external providers across multiple project streams to deliver options analyses and informed recommendations.

Degree or other qualification in information technology/business or relevant industry.
Special conditions
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed, renewed every five years. The incumbent will undertake RRHAN–EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead Masterclass or the online Fundamentals course, updated every three years. For all other Special Conditions please refer to the attached Position Description.
Remuneration
ASO7 $108,109 - 116,864 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation (12%) and leave loading.
