Senior mechanic – pathway to workshop manager

Bunbury
Dapco Tyre & Auto Bunbury
Mechanic
Posted: 14 March
Offer description

Overview

DAPCO Bunbury is looking for an experienced mechanic ready to develop leadership skills and move into a future Workshop Management position. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the workshop floor but is also thinking longer-term. It would suit a skilled Mechanic who wants responsibility, leadership, and the opportunity to eventually manage a well-established, respected local business.

This is a hands-on mechanic role with a clear pathway into Workshop Manager, working directly alongside the owner as part of a planned transition toward retirement.

The Role

This role begins on the tools and progresses into full workshop management over time. You'll be on the tools, earning respect from the team, while gradually stepping into leadership and learning the business side of the workshop. Over the next 12–18 months, you'll be trained and mentored to take on full workshop management responsibility.

What You'll Be Doing

* Mechanical diagnostics, servicing, repairs, and suspension work to a high standard
* Supporting daily workshop operations and keeping jobs moving efficiently
* Assisting with job scheduling, workflow, and quality control
* Leading by example on the floor and supporting other technicians
* Communicating clearly with customers and suppliers
* Learning quoting, ordering, stock control, and compliance
* Gaining hands-on experience in running the business, not just fixing cars

About You

You're a solid mechanic with the ambition to step into a leadership and management role.

* Qualified mechanic with strong workshop experience
* You take pride in your work and how the workshop runs
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
* You're reliable, organised, and naturally step up when something needs doing
* You're interested in leadership and learning how a business operates
* Comfortable working hands-on while developing management capability
* You want stability, responsibility, and a long-term future, not just your next job

Management experience isn't essential - attitude and ambition matter more.

What's On Offer

* A clear pathway to Workshop Manager as the owner plans retirement
* One-on-one mentoring directly from the business owner
* Long-term job security in a respected, established local business
* Competitive salary based on experience
* The opportunity to help shape the future of the workshop as ownership transitions

Location & Hours

* Full-time, permanent position
* Based at DAPCO's Bunbury workshop
* Immediate start available for the right person

If you're a mechanic who wants more responsibility, more trust, and a future beyond the tools, we'd love to hear from you.

Please send through your resume to Ms. Jenny Maunders at ***************@dapintranet.com or phone (08) 9792 1*** to arrange a confidential interview.

Only applicants who are shortlisted will be contacted.
