The role of a classroom maths teacher plays a vital part in the educational journey of students.
As a maths educator, you will be responsible for designing, delivering and assessing programs to achieve specific student outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
* Teaching groups of students and individual students;
* Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school;
* Undertaking classroom teaching related duties as determined by the school's management team;
* Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings; staff meetings; camps and excursions;
* Undertaking non-teaching supervisory duties.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to reflect on your teaching practice and engage in professional learning to continually improve the quality of education.
You will also be expected to model exemplary teaching practices and mentor/coach other educators in the school to engage in critical reflection of their practice and support staff to expand their capacity.
**Essential Requirements:**
1. Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant maths curriculum, including the ability to incorporate literacy and numeracy skills into teaching;
2. Demonstrated experience in responding to student learning needs;
3. Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing effective teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth;
4. Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning;
5. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader community to support student learning, agency, wellbeing and engagement;
6. Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values. Demonstrated experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning to continually improve the quality of education.
