Overview
Sexual Assault Counsellor roles within Indigenous Community Healing Support Services. Senior Practitioner and Sexual Assault Counsellor responsibilities focus on delivering therapeutic support to children, young people and non-perpetrating adults who have experienced or are at risk of sexual abuse or sexual violence, and on developing prevention and education initiatives to create a safer, trauma-informed community.
Responsibilities
* Senior Practitioner: Ensure the effective delivery of high-quality therapeutic support services to children, young people and non-perpetrating adults; provide individual counselling and support, parent support, family interventions and group programs; contribute to prevention and education initiatives; provide counselling and practice supervision of staff.
* Sexual Assault Counsellor: Provide therapeutic case management and counselling to children, young people, adults, families and/or carers in the area of sexual assault and abuse; offer flexible, client-centred counselling that may incorporate psycho education, protective behaviours and safety planning.
Essential Qualifications
* Relevant Qualification in Counselling, Social Work/Mental Health
* Stable employment history
* WWCC
* Sensitivity to Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander culture and families
* Experience with Indigenous families, women, youth, mums and trauma
