About The Opportunity
As the Senior Work Order Coordinator for Austal Defence Australia (ADA), you'll be responsible for the end‐to‐end coordination and governance of work order creation. The role provides leadership and assurance to a team of trade‐specific work order coordinators and ensures work orders are planned, scheduled and issued in alignment with the production schedule, cost, safety and quality. The role acts as the key interface between Planning, Engineering, Production, Supply Chain and Quality.

What's Involved
* Lead and manage a team of work order coordinators across multiple trades.
* Oversee the creation, validation and closure of work orders, ensuring compliance with engineering, quality and production standards.
* Ensure work orders are production‐ready, including all required materials and documentation.
* Act as the primary interface between Engineering, Planning, Production, Supply Chain and Quality to coordinate and release accurate work packages.
* Manage work order cost control, change management and progress reporting.
* Mentor team members, set performance expectations and drive a high‐performance, collaborative team culture.
* Identify and resolve complex planning and execution issues related to scope, schedule, cost and quality.
* Facilitate structured feedback loops with production teams to embed continuous improvement and lessons learned.
You'll Need Essential
* Effective communication skills.
* Competency in Microsoft Office, design software and ERP.
* Relevant trade qualification.
Desirable
* Experience with Primavera.
* Formal Planning/Scheduling training.
* 5 years' experience in a planning role in shipbuilding, complex manufacturing or construction.
* Engineering qualification – Mechanical or equivalent (Cert IV).
* P6 user.
