Role Overview
You drive project specifications to a successful close. You own the Business Specification Document (BSD) and secure its sign‐off. Working closely together with the Engineering Manager and engineering squad, you use your insights to deliver a seamless, working system for the customer. You lead complex engagements and act as an experienced Backbase consultant. As a Backbase product expert, you are also a trusted advisor in the Australian banking domain. You support our customers to create and implement their omnichannel digital banking transformation, translating bank strategy into a game‐changing customer experience. Your role combines deep Australian banking expertise with a hands‐on focus on implementation. You communicate progress, risks, and blockers clearly with your core team, capture and prioritise customer requirements, identify product improvements, and define best practices. You are highly organised, finish what you start, and thrive in fixed‐deadline environments. You also manage feature requests and product bug reports directly with the product team.

* Lead business requirements elicitation and own the specifications from start to finish.
* Take accountability for the end‐to‐end quality of functional and technical specifications, ensuring UX and Solution Architecture align perfectly within the signed‐off BSD.
* Manage the project backlog in Jira with thoroughness and accuracy.
* Create and manage sign‐off on the BSD and facilitate the change request process.
* Write and organise User Stories, Epics, feature requests, and bug reports.
* Coach others on formatting and ensuring the BSD, including product configurations, gets signed off.
* Use AI to work smarter and faster, translating AI‐generated notes into tight specifications.
* Confidently give demos of functionality on the Backbase platform.
Communication Skills
* Manage customer expectations, work closely with clients, and lead engaging workshops.
* Serve as the main point of contact for functional and domain‐related discussions in the Australian banking landscape.
Product Knowledge
* Act as the domain and product expert for our banking solutions in Australia, guiding configuration, workflows, and data mapping.
* Guide clients on how to get the most out of our product out‐of‐the‐box; when customisation is essential, collaborate with the product team to explore enhancements.

Qualifications
* Five to seven years in a similar role, with at least five years' experience in the Australian banking sector.
* Deep domain expertise in banking (e.g. retail banking, payments, deposits, loans, or wealth management) in the Australian context.
* Expertise in creating Business Specification Documents, Epics, User Stories, and back‐end tasks, adhering to the Backbase way of working and the Agentic SDLC.
* Expertise in Jira, Gemini, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and white‐boarding tools such as Miro; use AI as a default way of working.
* Bachelor's degree or higher; IIBA CCB certification is a plus.
* Professional working proficiency in English.
* Willingness to travel based on project needs.
