We are seeking a skilled and motivated Fabrication and Maintenance Technician to join our Macadamia operations in Bundaberg. This is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of farm machinery, infrastructure and sorting shed equipment.
Reporting to the Area Manager – Bundaberg Macadamia Operations, you will play a key role in minimising downtime, supporting harvest and processing operations, and contributing to continuous improvement across the business.
This opportunity will suit a trade-qualified professional who enjoys practical problem solving, working both independently and as part of a broader farming team, and taking pride in maintaining high safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide timely and cost-effective breakdown, repair and maintenance services for farm plant and equipment
* Maintain and protect company assets, ensuring reliability and longevity
* Conduct preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs
* Assist with fabrication, modification and installation of new and existing plant and equipment
* Support workshop systems, maintenance planning and record keeping
* Contribute to maintenance budgeting and capital expenditure planning
* Maintain accurate work orders, timesheets and safety documentation
* Lead and act in a safe and sound manner adhering to relevant policies and procedures
* Identify and rectify hazards within areas of responsibility
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will require the following:
* Certificate III or higher in an Engineering trade (mechanical and/or metal fabrication)
* Minimum 3 years’ post-trade experience, ideally within agriculture or heavy industry
* Experience in diesel engine maintenance, welding and farm equipment repairs
* HR Driver’s Licence (preferred)
* Forklift licence (desirable)
* Senior First Aid (desirable)
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
* Solid organisational skills and attention to detail
* Good communication skills and ability to liaise across multiple farm sites
