About the role
Join us for this exciting 6-month Maximum Term Contract based out of our Melbourne offices as Senior Account
This role is all about supporting the Financial Control team with technical accounting and practical management reporting during the month-end analysis of results. You'll be working within the Energy accounting team and reporting to the Performance Manager – Energy. Your key responsibilities will include ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the accounts, while also liaising with both internal and external stakeholders. This is a great opportunity to make a significant impact and contribute to the success of the team.
What you'll be doing day-to-day
Month-End Processes: Assist with overseeing and coordinating month-end processes to meet strict deadlines, prepare and review month-end journals, and complete analytical reviews of month-end results.
Financial Analysis and Reporting: Work with the FP&A team to investigate and understand variances, assist with the preparation and coordination of monthly reporting packs, and ensure the integrity and validation of the general ledger.
Reconciliations and Support: Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, provide accounting support for stakeholders across the business, and seek continuous improvement of financial accounting processes to deliver efficient and streamlined services.
Coaching and Mentoring: Coach and mentor junior staff and assist with corporate accounting tasks including balance sheet analytics, cash flow, and working capital analysis.
Ad Hoc Projects: Assist the Finance Manager with various ad hoc projects, ensuring all changes to processes and procedures are documented.
What you'll bring to this role
Qualifications and Experience: CA/CPA qualified with over 5 years of experience in Financial Accounting or Management Accounting. Experience with one of the big four would be highly regarded.
Communication Skills : Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience in engaging senior stakeholders.
Technical Proficiency: Solid technical skills, coupled with a drive and initiative to excel in the role.
Positive Attitude: A positive, can-do attitude with a focus on continuous improvement and the confidence to express constructive recommendations.
Process Improvement: An eye towards process improvement, ensuring efficient and streamlined financial accounting processes.
