The School
Willetton Senior High School (SHS) is one of the largest schools in Western Australia, with a student population in excess of 2700, approximately 230 teaching staff and 145 support staff on campus. At the centre of Willetton SHS is our vastly diverse student population, drawn from diverse geographic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Willetton SHS is the school of choice for many local and international families, and relationships between the school and community are actively nurtured and valued. Our success stems from our emphasis on exceptional learning experiences, with our school defining and celebrating success as achievement of personal best.
Guided by the belief in every student's potential, Willetton SHS prioritises safe and inspiring environments for both learners and educators. Through nurturing self-worth and community contribution, our school values of care, respect and excellence are imparted upon our students to shape a positive culture known as the "Willo Way." With a commitment to holistic development, Willetton SHS offers selective programs, Basketball Specialist and Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) in addition to extracurricular activities such as The Duke of Edinburgh Award and international exchange programs. We strive to provide academic, artistic, linguistic and sporting opportunities to our students to enrich their academic experience. Our curriculum encourages social responsibility, contribution to community and practical skills essential for life beyond school.
There is a strong focus on pastoral care at Willetton SHS and our staff are exemplary practitioners committed to creating balanced, challenging and exciting learning environments that foster a lifelong love of learning and empower students to take responsibility for their educational journey. The Role
The successful applicant will join the Careers and Vocational Education team at Willetton SHS and play a key role in delivering vocational education and training (VET) programs and career development opportunities for students in Years 10 to 12. This includes the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of nationally recognised qualifications aligned with Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE), in collaboration with other staff, Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), and industry partners. The role also supports individual pathway planning and the coordination of Workplace Learning or School-Based Traineeships. As part of the school's broader academic program, the teacher may also be required to teach subjects outside of the VET learning area depending on school needs.
To be successful in this position, the applicant should display a student-centred approach, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to supporting diverse learners as they prepare for post-school transitions. A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) is highly desirable, as is experience delivering VET qualifications such as Certificate II in Workplace Skills, Certificate III in Business and Certificate III in Community Services. Our senior school program is responsive to changes in the education and work landscapes, so we are looking for applicants who are proactive in the own professional development and are flexible to the needs of the school and our students. The ability to work collaboratively within a high-performing team, maintain VET compliance records, and contribute to learning area processes like subject counselling will be important.
