Are you passionate about community safety and delivering exceptional customer service? The City of Burnside is seeking a Community Safety Compliance Officer to join our Ranger Services team.
About the Role
As a Community Safety Compliance Officer, you will play a vital role in protecting and promoting public safety within our community. This position involves a diverse range of responsibilities, including:
* Parking Control – monitoring compliance with Australian Road Rules and Council regulations.
* Fire Prevention – assisting with inspections and issuing Fire Hazard Reduction Notices.
* Animal Management – enforcing legislation under the Dog & Cat Management Act.
* Local Law Compliance – investigating and resolving customer requests, issuing expiations, and attending court when required.
You'll work closely with residents and stakeholders to maintain the safety, security, and amenity of our city while delivering high-quality customer service.
What We're Looking For
* Previous experience in Local Government or regulatory/enforcement environment.
* Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, including Local Government Act 1999, Local Nuisance and Litter Control Act 2016, and Dog and Cat Management Act.
* Strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
* Country Fire Service Fire Prevention Officer Course (attained or completed at the next course availability).
* Previous experience in Fire Prevention Management and enforcement.
* Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services) or similar is desirable.
* A valid South Australian Driver's Licence and flexibility to work after-hours shifts as required.
This position is offered as a permanent, full-time position classified at Level 4 under the City of Burnside Administration Employees Enterprise Agreement 2023.
