SNSW Grade: 9/10 - base salary from $130,705 to $157,430 + super (This salary range is based on a full‐time 35‐hour work week and will be pro‐rated for part‐time hours)

Locations: Anywhere in NSW / Hybrid (1-2 days in office). In office presence is required as per DCS directive

We're looking for a talented Senior Content Designer to join our supportive, collaborative and highly skilled Design Systems (GEL) team at Service NSW.
If you're passionate about simplifying complexity, improving user experiences, and shaping best practice content standards across NSW Government, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact at scale.
What you'll be working on
As a Senior Content Designer in the Design Systems (GEL) team, you will:
•Lead improvements and ongoing development of the Service NSW Global Experience Language (GEL), including editorial guidelines and accessibility standards.
•Develop clear, user ‐centred content that simplifies complex processes.
•Support and promote best ‐practice content design across Service NSW and other NSW Government agencies.
•Work collaboratively within cross ‐functional product teams (Product Managers, Designers, Developers).
•Play a key role in initiatives such as:
-Improving Design System documentation and governance
-AI ‐driven content workflows
-Accessibility uplift across products and the design system
-Content migration and communications improvements
•Identify opportunities for content improvement projects and evaluate their impact.
About you
You will thrive in this role if you:
•Have strong experience as a Content Designer, UX copywriting or as technical content specialist ideally within a design system environment.
•Experience writing documentation for design system teams or creation of content guidelines to help support product teams.
•Strong proficiency in accessibility and user ‐centred design principles
•Can distil complex design and technical information into clear, accessible guidance.
•Have supported multi‐disciplinary teams in a collaborative, agile environment.
•Are adaptable, proactive, and comfortable balancing a mixture of design, documentation, and strategic content work.
•Have strong stakeholder and time management‐ skills.
•Bring curiosity and a desire to continuously learn, especially as technology evolves—including AI enabled‐ workflows.

Our recruitment process
Our recruitment and assessment process is merit based. For this recruitment we will be conducting a minimum of three interview and assessment stages that form a comparative process.

Office locations
Support office roles are headquartered across Haymarket, Parramatta, and Gosford. We will consider role headquarters outside of these locations where the role can reasonably be performed from that location, taking into consideration the operational, financial, and customer requirements of the role, and an ability to attend a NSW Government workplace as required.
Salary Grade 9/10, with the base salary for this role starting at $130705 base plus superannuation
