Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented solicitor, likely 2-6 years PQE, to join our medical negligence team. This role involves working to a partner to manage and support a range of plaintiff medical negligence matters, and deliver high-quality legal services. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical ability, initiative, and a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for clients. The successful candidate may be employed at junior solicitor or associate level depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities
The main tasks and responsibilities for this role include:
* Conduct legal research and prepare concise summaries, including drafting preliminary advice based on findings
* Draft legal documents, including statements of claim, statements of particulars, affidavits, and proofs of evidence
* Appear at directions hearings and other interlocutory court appearances as required
* Prepare draft correspondence for review and/or dispatch
* Liaise with clients to take instructions, provide advice, and deliver regular updates on their matters
* Organise, maintain, and track case files to ensure efficient matter management
* Review and monitor new and updated laws, regulations, and relevant case law
* Locate and interview witnesses, including preparing witness statements
* Brief Counsel
* Work closely with supervising partner on all of the above
Education and Experience
* Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and completion of a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice (GDLP) or equivalent qualifications
* Admission as a legal practitioner in the relevant jurisdiction (or eligibility for admission)
* Previous experience in medical negligence or personal injury litigation (preferred but not essential for junior solicitors)
