Job Description
* The major responsibility of the Assistant Yard Manager is to assist the Yard Manager in ensuring that the main auction site and off‐site locations run smoothly and safely.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for coordinating site preparation, auction ramp and loading ramp.
* Oversee the yard layout and equipment line up.
* Ensure the sale site is safe and up to Ritchie Brothers standards.
* Ensure adherence to environmental regulations of the sale location.
* Plan the refurbishing schedule and budget; control purchase orders and cost sheets.
* Liaise with subcontractors.
* Ensure equipment is in sale‐ready condition.
* Arrange directional, parking and yard signs.
* Ensure proper attachment removal.
* Ensure equipment has fuel, oil and anti‐freeze.
* Organize yard supplies according to checklist.
* Supervise operators and yard staff daily, including scheduling of day‐of‐sale casual staff.
* Maintain ongoing compliance with corporate and legislated health & safety and environmental policies, regulations and laws.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* EH&S experience.
* Mechanical aptitude.
* Equipment repair & refurbishment experience.
* Inventory management.
* Part sourcing & procurement (negotiation skills).
* Previous experience managing or supervising multi‐disciplinary teams.
* Experience with industrial and/or agricultural equipment, trucks and trailers.
* Previous cost management experience; background in business fundamentals and financial knowledge preferred.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills.
* Proven experience providing excellent customer service to customers and colleagues.
* Strong computer skills, including ability to learn new programs.
* Top‐notch written and verbal communication skills.
* Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high‐pressure environment.
