Contract - Identity & Access (IAM) Architect
Your new company
You will be joining a government sector organisation that is focused on strengthening its identity and access management capabilities to meet compliance and security requirements.
Your new role
As IAM Architect, you'll be the driving force behind enterprise‑wide IAM strategy in a complex government environment. You'll design and implement advanced solutions across IGA, PAM, MFA (Okta), SSO, and federation, ensuring secure access for thousands of users. Your work will span identity lifecycle management, privileged access controls, and adaptive authentication, all aligned to Zero Trust principles.
You'll collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate IAM seamlessly into cloud, SaaS, and on‑premises platforms, while producing high‑quality architecture artefacts and guiding technical forums. Beyond delivery, you'll lead automation initiatives, streamline processes with scripting, and mentor colleagues - making a tangible impact on both security resilience and future readiness.
What you'll need to succeed
* Degree in Computer Science, IT, Cyber Security, or related discipline (postgraduate study advantageous).
* 5-7+ years in IAM or information security, with at least 3 years in an architectural or leadership capacity.
* Demonstrated success in architecting and implementing IAM solutions covering governance, risk, and compliance.
* Experience building strategic IAM roadmaps aligned to organisational and security objectives.
* Background in large IT environments supporting thousands of users across multiple sites.
* Strong knowledge of identity standards and protocols (SAML, OAuth2, OpenID Connect, LDAP).
* Familiarity with directory services and cloud identity platforms (Active Directory, Azure AD/EntraID, AWS IAM).
* Cloud‑native IAM expertise across AWS, Azure, or GCP, including DevOps and CI/CD integration.
* In‑depth understanding of frameworks and compliance regimes (NIST, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI‑DSS).
* Ability to produce architecture documentation (HLD, LLD, UML diagrams).
* Scripting skills in Python or PowerShell to automate IAM processes.
* Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
* Capacity to manage multiple projects in fast‑paced environments and collaborate effectively across teams. Desirable: Professional certifications such as CISSP, CIAM, or CISM; experience with IGA platforms (SailPoint, Okta, Saviynt); PAM solutions (CyberArk, BeyondTrust); and familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks like TOGAF or SABSA.
