**About the School/ Office**

The School of Medicine offers a four-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) program that has been fully accredited by the Australian Medical Council of Australia and is highly ranked by graduates in national surveys. Key features include a focus on small group teaching and problem-based learning, combined with rich clinical experiences across the entire program. The School also offers several postgraduate programs.

**About the role/ Position Purpose**

This position leads the development and delivery of the Communication and Clinical Skills (CCS) Domain to align with our strategic priorities and build external recognition. It has responsibility, for ensuring the medical program is recognised domestically and internationally for the exceptional quality of clinical skills learning and teaching, building the capability and professionalism of our medicine program graduates. This role works in collaboration with the other three domain heads to ensure the smooth delivery of learning resources, and assessment processes to achieve effective integration of the CSS Domain across the medical program. The position reports to the Head, Medical Education & Innovation, Sydney School of Medicine.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead the development and delivery of the CCS Domain and work collaboratively with the other Domain Heads, the Head of Foundation and the Head of Clinical Years to ensure the smooth delivery of the Medical Program.
- Chair the CCS Domain Committee and engage the Committee to support the delivery of the Domain.
- Review both the CCS Domain curriculum and resources on an ongoing basis to ensure they remain up to date with best practice and knowledge and the vertical integration of the content across the medical program.
- Prepare and deliver lectures and workshops as determined in the curriculum.
- Oversee recruitment of teachers who deliver CCS sessions and work with relevant academics to identify groups, agencies or individuals with expertise in CCS who can provide teaching in their area of expertise.
- Oversee the Volunteer Simulated Patient (VSP) program and facilitate in recruiting VSPs for CCS teaching and assessment.
- Oversee all CCS assessment processes (including the writing and reviewing of questions and participating in Objective Structured Clinical Examinations) and provide content expertise in the assessment of the CCS curriculum.
- Work collaboratively with the Head of Program Development, Quality and Assessment to develop evaluation tools and opportunities to benchmark the content and delivery of the CCS Domain.
- Work collaboratively with the Head of Curriculum and Head, Medical Education & Innovation, to advise about resources required to deliver the CCS curriculum.
- Participate in all relevant committees, meetings and working groups through providing leadership with respect to CCS.
- Support and contribute to research and scholarship related to medical education and relevant areas of expertise.

**Selection Criteria**

**Essential**
- Supportive of the **Objects** of Notre Dame as a Catholic University.
- Possession of a medical degree, registration with AHPRA and a postgraduate qualification in Medicine, Health or Medical Education or equivalent experience and standing in a relevant discipline area.
- Experience in evidence-based clinical skills teaching and delivery.
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, delivery and/or assessment in medical education, preferably in the health context and in a tertiary setting.
- Well-developed organisation and project management skills
- Proficiency with technology and learning and teaching programs.
- Excellent teamwork, communication and negotiation skills with the ability to interact effectively with a range of academic, clinical, administrative and/or technical staff in a complex environment.
