About the role
: John Hunter Rehabilitation Services offers an excellent opportunity to develop your rehabilitation skills and clinical skills to support patients in the sub-acute inpatient setting.
1. We are recognised as an innovative and specialist team that focuses on rehabilitation with various case mixes
2. We also offer specialist rehabilitation education with the multidisciplinary team on a regular basis
3. As a valued nurse within the unit, you will work closely with the Rehabilitation Clinical Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Consultants, Allied Health, and Medical Teams
4. You will have an excellent opportunity to expand and develop your professional and clinical skills in rehabilitation by attending our weekly in-services, rehabilitation grand rounds, and medicine grand rounds
5. As a service, we also offer a transition to a rehabilitation program for Registered Nurses to rotate through our specialist wards
Support for the role:
6. An enhanced education team including after-hours education support with increased Nursing Hours Per Patient Per Day (6NHPPD) enabling excellence in healthcare delivery and positive outcomes for patients and staff
7. A formal orientation will be provided at the commencement and supernumerary shifts to support your transition into rehabilitation and a sub-acute model of care
8. You will have access to a full-time rehabilitation-specific educator
9. You will be mentored by the Clinical Nurse Specialist on the ward during your transition into the workplace

Information for Applicants:

Successful candidates will be temporarily required to work from Maitland Hospital for a duration of up to 2 years while construction is underway at the John Hunter Health Innovation Precinct. When construction finishes, staff will revert to their primary place of work at the John Hunter Hospital, Rankin Park Precinct.
Where eligible, a travel allowance will be payable to successful candidates for the duration of this placement at the Maitland Hospital. Eligibility will be assessed on an individual basis and paid in accordance with the Public Health System Nurses’ and Midwives’ Award.
