About The Role We are seeking a Legal Counsel to join Maurice Blackburn on a permanent, full‑time basis within Shared Services, reporting to a Senior Legal Counsel in the General Counsel team. You will provide clear, commercially focused advice across a range of corporate and commercial matters. The role is fast‑paced and influential, with regular exposure to senior stakeholders and a varied workload. We recognise that talent comes in many forms. Key Responsibilities Provide pragmatic and commercially orientated legal advice to Maurice Blackburn’s practice teams and Shared Services teams on corporate/commercial and regulatory compliance matters. Draft, negotiate and interpret commercial contracts (including services agreements, NDAs and SaaS) and advise on related disputes. Support governance and company secretariat activities, including Board/Committee materials, minutes and compliance reporting under the supervision of the General Counsel and Company Secretary. Assist with corporate transactions and maintain statutory records and ASIC filings. Develop and refine templates, policies, procedures and internal training. Support compliance with the Corporations Act, ASIC requirements, privacy laws and Australian Consumer Law. Conduct legal research as requested. The Experience We Are Looking For Minimum 3 years’ post‑admission experience in corporate or general commercial/contracts practice. Proven track record drafting and negotiating commercial agreements and/or governance/compliance experience advantageous. Experience advising on privacy/data protection, contract interpretation and commercially sensitive issues. Confidence advising senior stakeholders; excellent written and verbal communication. Proven stakeholder management, influence and professional standards. Exceptional attention to detail, organisation and time management. Admission as an Australian legal practitioner with a current unrestricted practising certificate. Commercial acumen, sound judgement and a proactive, values‑aligned approach.
