Consultant, Contaminated Land Management

Our team in Australia is one of the largest private sector contaminated site teams, offering scale and reach for impactful work.
The role is based in our Canberra office, with flexibility to work from home up to 2 days a week when not on-site.
We are seeking a Consultant-level professional to manage the full lifecycle of contaminated land projects across government, petroleum, mining, and energy sectors, focusing on compliance, remediation, and redevelopment.
Responsibilities include:
Conduct environmental fieldwork such as drilling, hydrogeological testing, site validation, and monitoring, ensuring safety and considering complex geology
Collect and analyze environmental samples (soil, groundwater, vapors, air, landfill gas)
Develop conceptual site models and interpret large datasets
Prepare technical assessment reports and recommendations
Oversee contractors, ensuring safety, compliance, and quality
Apply relevant legislation, standards, and project specifications
Build strong relationships with colleagues and clients, collaborating across teams
Manage small to medium projects independently
Promote a safety-first culture and support safety initiatives
Qualifications and Experience:
2-4 years of relevant consulting experience, including business development and client delivery
Experience managing small to medium contaminated-site projects
Knowledge of soil contaminants, investigation techniques, and remediation technologies
Understanding of NSW regulations for contaminated sites
Full Australian Driver's License
Tertiary qualification in earth sciences or environmental engineering/science
Project management skills
