Our client is a major organisation within the food manufacturing industry, operating multiple production facilities across Australia and New Zealand. With strong investment in automation and continuous improvement, this opportunity offers genuine scope for an experienced Reliability Engineer / Planner to influence reliability programs, asset performance, and maintenance planning at a high‑volume site.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will lead equipment reliability improvement and process optimisation initiatives that reduce unplanned downtime, improve OEE, strengthen preventive and predictive maintenance, and support a structured maintenance planning framework. This position combines technical reliability engineering with hands‑on maintenance planning, project delivery and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct root cause analysis, reliability centred maintenance and FMEA to improve asset performance and reduce repetitive equipment failures.
- Lead continuous improvement and equipment reliability projects aimed at increasing OEE and reducing breakdowns.
- Develop and manage preventive and predictive maintenance schedules through the CMMS system.
- Ensure critical spare parts availability to support maintenance work and minimise production disruption.
- Collaborate with production, quality, HSE and external contractors to deliver maintenance and reliability outcomes.
- Apply risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety, food quality and engineering standards.
Skills and Experience
- Engineering experience in FMCG or high‑volume manufacturing, preferably 5 years or more.
- Strong background in automation and electrical systems, with exposure to PLC and control system environments.
- Experience in maintenance planning and reliability methodologies including RCM, FMEA and RCA.
- Proficient in CMMS and maintenance documentation.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and contractor coordination skills.
- Tertiary Engineering qualifications are desirable.
