About the role
We're looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to join the team at Hotel Indigo Melbourne on Flinders. This on‐site role requires a strong presence to support the sales team, conduct site inspections, engage with guests, and generate leads for both corporate accounts and Groups & Meetings.
You'll play a key role in growing revenue across corporate and groups segments, converting enquiries, building client relationships, reviewing property performance, and working closely with the sales teams to maximize opportunities.
Key responsibilities
* Drive new revenue by strategically identifying, developing and converting business opportunities across allocated market segments.
* Engage with guests, conduct site inspections, and attend client meetings & tradeshows
* Analyse business performance, market trends, and competitor activity to drive growth and improve underperforming accounts.
* Collaborate with sales and operations teams to execute events and ensure smooth client handovers, including contracts and operational requirements.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients and event planners, following up post-event to encourage repeat business.
* Mentor Sales Executives, support KPI and revenue targets, and work with the Director of Sales & General Manager on strategic initiatives.
* Work closely with IHG's Key Account Managers and National Sales Office to further drive results
* Maximise revenue through effective contracting, negotiation, and yield management, while maintaining high standards of personalised service and promptly addressing client concerns.
Qualifications & Experience
* Minimum 2 years' experience in Business Development and Hotel sales, within luxury or lifestyle hotels, with a proven track record of converting enquiries into confirmed business and achieving revenue targets.
* Strong knowledge of conference and event sales, account management, and client relationship building.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to influence clients and stakeholders.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively, supporting hotel operations and portfolio sales resources.
* Flexible and adaptable, managing both reactive and proactive sales priorities, with experience mentoring junior sales staff.
* Proficient in hotel CRM systems, sales reporting tools, and Microsoft Office.
