The Role

The primary function of the Languages Coordinator role is to support the Head of Faculty-English and Languages in the curriculum administration function. The Langugage Coordinator will provide leadership and oversight of the French, Japanese and Chinese programmes across Years P-12. The role will ensure that all language teachers and assessment practices are of the highest quality, aligned with the Australian Curriculum and QCAA requirements, and that all students are supported to achieve their education goals to the best of their ability. Additionally, the Language Coordinator will be a member of the Curriculum Leadership Team. Whitsunday Anglican School is committed to offering students with inspiring teachers, evidence-based teaching practices, and effective progress monitoring and support. Our teaching community takes an enthusiastic and proactive approach to student learning, adapting to student needs and development.

Some of the primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Oversee the planning, delivery and review of teh French, Japanese and Chinese programmes from P-12
- Manage assessment requirements and ensure compliance with QCAA requirements for Year 11-12
- Ensure all documentation and resources are centrally stored
- Developing strong relationships with colleagues, students, and parents
- Prepare and communicate assessment calendar
- Analyse data to inform teaching strategies, and support or extend student learning.
- Mentor and develop staff

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Candidate Profile

- Relevant tertiary qualifications, with the ability to teach French or Chinese across our primary and lower secondary school, or a willingness to do so.
- Registration with Queensland College of Teachers.
- Experience mentoring and supporting colleagues to reach their qualified aspirations through continual improvement
- Demonstrated high level organisational, networking and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated initiative, with the ability to anticipate the needs of a School organisation
- A team player with solid interpersonal skills, who has the ability to engage and inspire and support their team members
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
