We provide our services from office locations in St Albans and Hume and also undertake outreach services.
The organisation has a range of service areas that include, Settlement services, Age Care, Disability Services, Learning Centre services, NDIS & Home Care Packages program as well as Community projects.About the RolesThe position is part of the Settlement Engagement and Transition Support Client Services Program with our team based at the Migrant Resource Centre North West.
The role will be responsible for providing casework and support services to newly arrived refugee young people (16 to 24 years of age) and to assist them to overcome the challenges of settlement in Australia, with an aim to advance their social and economic inclusion in the community.SETS SUPPORT WORKER ROLE:Key Responsibilities & DutiesConduct comprehensive client needs assessments, focusing on youth support services.Provide casework and advocacy for clients with complex settlement issues, including referrals to relevant services.Develop and deliver community initiatives and consultations to support newly arrived refugees and humanitarian entrants.Monitor client progress post-intake, helping them navigate mainstream services.Market program outcomes to partners and funders, and support other internal programs.Maintain relationships with key agencies and community partners to enhance service coordination.Collect and document data for accountability, evaluation, and reporting requirements.Key Selection CriteriaMinimum 3 years' experience in a similar role with relevant tertiary qualifications in Community Welfare/Development or Social Sciences.Knowledge of settlement issues affecting refugees and humanitarian entrants, particularly those with complex needs.Practical understanding of Australian migration legislation and policies.Excellent oral and written communication, administrative, and time management skills.Proficiency in a relevant community language/dialect is desirable.Ability to prioritize workload, take initiative, and exercise valuable judgment in team and independent settings.Understanding of diverse approaches when working with vulnerable and disadvantaged clients.Demonstrated experience in casework, referral, and assessment.Knowledge of the service sector, including housing, health, mental health, disability, drug and alcohol, and children and family services.Data Management and Record Keeping:Ensure timely management of records, including case notes and assessments, in line with contract obligations.Collect and analyze client data to inform program development and improvement.Ensure secure maintenance of client information and assist in report preparation regarding SETS services.Stakeholder Management and Advocacy:Build partnerships with key agencies to enhance program delivery.Participate in community events to promote MRCNWR and settlement services.Provide cross-cultural consultancy and advocate for target groups within the Australian service system.Represent MRC at external committees and engage in networking activities as needed.TeamworkWork together with the settlement team to deliver agreed joint activities, programs and events.Maintain a teamwork approach at all times.Actively participate in program, casework and agency meetings.Actively participate in formal support and supervision sessions and work appraisals with the SETS Team Leader.Other DutiesThis position description contains the key tasks and associated performance indicators for this position.
